Claiming Land

Borderra geopolitical Minecraft land claim preview

Land on Borderra is claimed through towns. Claims protect builds, define borders, and show players where towns and nations control territory on the live map.

One claim is one Minecraft chunk: 16x16 blocks from bedrock to build height. Chunk borders line up with the claim borders used by Towny.

Before You Claim

Claiming land requires a town. Create a town first or join a town with permission to claim land.

Before expanding a border:

  • Check the Map Guide for nearby towns, roads, coasts, rivers, and possible conflict points.
  • Walk the land in game to inspect terrain, caves, builds, resources, and access routes.
  • Deposit gold into the town bank with /t deposit <amount>.
  • Confirm that the chunk connects cleanly to the town's existing claims.
  • Use F3 + G in Minecraft Java Edition to show chunk borders.

Town expenses come from the town bank. The in-game confirmation prompt shows the cost before a claim is accepted.

Claim A Chunk

  1. Stand inside the chunk the town will claim.
  2. Confirm that the chunk is unclaimed.
  3. Confirm that the chunk touches land already owned by the town.
  4. Run /t claim.
  5. Check /t here or the live map to confirm the claim belongs to the town.

Claim connected land in clean shapes. Straight borders, roads, coastlines, and natural landmarks make diplomacy easier because other players can understand where the town begins and ends.

Unclaim A Chunk

Use /t unclaim while standing in a town-owned chunk to remove that claim.

Unclaim carefully. Removing the wrong chunk can expose builds, split a border, or create gaps that confuse residents and neighbors.

Claim Limits

Town information shows current claims and claim capacity.

Use:

/t <town>

Look for the town size or claim count shown in town information. A town at its claim limit needs more capacity before claiming additional chunks.

Good claim planning keeps enough space for:

  • Resident plots.
  • Farms and resource areas.
  • Roads, ports, railways, and public infrastructure.
  • Markets and storage.
  • Defensive buffers and future expansion.

Do not claim land just to hold empty territory. Empty border spam creates friction and makes the map harder to read.

Unclaimed Land

Unclaimed land is not protected by a town.

Looting is allowed from unclaimed areas. Store valuables inside protected town claims or personal protected storage instead of leaving them in wilderness chests.

Abandoned claim cleanup is allowed. Check the Rules for the exact cleanup standards before removing old builds or materials from abandoned claims.

Border Etiquette

Borderra is a geopolitical server, so claims are also diplomacy.

Good border habits:

  • Talk to nearby towns before claiming directly against them.
  • Leave room for roads and neutral travel corridors.
  • Avoid boxing in new towns without a reason.
  • Use map colors that make borders readable.
  • Mark public roads, ports, and market areas clearly.
  • Keep screenshots or Discord messages for important border agreements.

Clean borders reduce disputes. Clear agreements prevent small claim issues from turning into nation-level conflicts.
